Night passes and morning comes.

I awake.

As always, I run through Routine 1: lie still / get my bearings.
Am I alive? Check.
Am I metabolizing? Check.
Am I conscious? Check.
Am I sane? Check.
Do I have memory of past events? Check.
Do I have eyes? Check.

I open my eyes. Check.

Can I see? Check.
Is my perception of the world any different than it was? Check.
Am I in the same place where I went to sleep? Check.
Is the area around me as I left it? Check.
Is the area clear of any dangerous/noxious substances or debris that I may have accidentally caused? Check.
Am I alone? Check.

All this happens in just a few seconds. It is more of an intuitive process by now.

I run through Routine 2: check body / attempt to move

I look down at my body.

Am I humanoid? Check.
Am I normal-sized? Check.
Is there anything new about my body that I should test before trying to move? Check.
Do I have arms? Check.

I attempt to put my arms under me and sit up. Check.
I swing my legs over the edge of the bed and attempt to stand on them. Check.
I stand up and take a step. Check.

OK, system checks out all green lights today. Good show, that's several times in a row now.

Routine 3 (check for new abilities) can wait for a bit this time, but as usual, I ensure that I complete Routine 3 before leaving the room and going out in a public place.
