Delegates Still Missing
Oil Tankers Recovered

Delegates Still Missing

An international incident is brewing, with Canada and the Canadian Special Forces at the centre of the controversy. The American President was discovered to be an impostor mere days after his return from the month-long World Trade Organization conference held in Toronto, Canada which concluded earlier this week. Since genetic testing is done for all high-ranking US officials on a daily basis, the fraud was discovered immediately. Since then, a total of nine clones were revealed in Japan, The People’s Republic of China, Mexico, Great Britain, Germany, Brazil, France & Russia. Apparently, the delegates recovered from the abandoned oil tanker off the Grand Banks by Canadian Shield’s Maritime Division were decoys and not the missing world leaders.

The real question now is: Where are the real delegates and who is responsible? While most of the affected countries hold Canada responsible for the security breach, only the United States and The People’s Republic of China have acted with open hostility. Both countries have recalled their embassy staff and the US government has ordered its borders closed. When asked how the United States intended to guard the Longest Undefended Border In The World, the acting president replied tersely, "We defeated Iraq; We can handle a few Canadians!".

Canadian Prime Minister Marion McCloud responded in turn by enacting the War Measures Act, not used since the November Crisis over thirty years ago. All present and former members of Canadian Shield are being mobilised in the search and rescue effort. In addition, legislation is being pushed through to conscript new team members from the general population of metahumans now residing in Canada. "The United States has flexed its military muscles to intimidate the other countries of the world and influence the United Nations far too often. It’s time this Goliath learned there’s a new David on the block, and his name is Canada."

Great Britain is the only one of the nations involved to have thrown its support behind Canada and is even offering military and covert intelligence aid to the resources of the CSF.

Oil Tankers Recovered

All three missing supertankers have been recovered, albeit drained of their cargo. The first was found adrift off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, with an automated defense system in place, but was boarded by the Maritime Unit of the Canadian Shield superhero team. The second tanker was piloted by an AI navigator into New York Harbour and the third was retrieved off the Brazilian coast yesterday. All of the tankers had been depleted of their cargo – without even a trace of petroleum residue remaining in the hold. The crew for each were found aboard, in their quarters, sedated and again, with no memory of the piracy.
